I really wanted my return newsletter to be glorious and thoughtful. I really wanted to give a new name to this letter, new graphics, new “about me” section, just all things new for this new chapter.
But a bitch is tired and cranky and in a writing slump and just cannot. So, here is my trusted ever reliable Ten Things post.
On my morning playlist: Tracy Chapman, Teddy Swims, Gary Clark Jr. and The Unlikely Candidates, Steven Rodriguez, and KALEO. It’s just the summer vibes I need.
Wait, summer you say? Ah, yes. If you haven’t seen it on Instagram, I — along with my chosen family — are taking a 12 month holiday. A gap year. Spent between Australia and Thailand (and other Asian Pacific countries as finances and time allows.) There is more to this, so much I want to share, but still finding the words.
Instant coffee, please save me.
I went on a boat for the first time in over a decade. Possibly closer to fifteen years. It was so lovely and reminded me why I love being on boats. The wind rushing where it’s all you can hear, my internal monologue just quiets.
An eight minute Marco Polo video from my four and half year old niece reduced me to ugly tears. She is making me a rainbow hearts Valentine’s Day card and wants to give me one of her butterfly clips. Ugh.
A box of Dr. Pepper costs AU$60 LOLSOB. My Texan heart cries.
The Kiddo is just like me, for real. We immediately pick up food that has just been in the toaster or air fryer or oven and try to eat it right away. And then get OFFENDED and confused when it’s still hot, lolsob.
Duolingo needs to calm down. I just woke up, no I don’t want to practice.
Even though I miss my sweaters and cozy layers, baggy jeans and crop tops are comfy as hell right now.
Second coffee, please save me.
