Hello dear hearts
I did not mean to be quiet for so long, but these last seven weeks have been a lot, leaving little room my brain to gather any kind of coherent thought, much less getting it out in letter form. And that’s not even taking into account this current Mercury Retrograde.
Spring is a equal parts lovely and frustrating. Lovely because longer days, energy shifts, flowers, and green everywhere. Frustrating because allergies and temperamental weather that gives me daily headaches.
Right now, I am trying to drown out the sound of dual screens playing an eating game (lip smacks included) and a horrible distorted sounding YouTube video. (Anyone else have a toddler who must have multiple types of stimulation at once?) If I type fast enough, I can almost ignore it. But wow, it’s not helping my headache.
I have therapy later today and I am hoping I can get some of my brain untangled, put some things to the side. But for now, I’m just going to keep distracting myself the best I know how.
Currently Reading
Awaken the Fifth Order (The Immortal Orders #3) by Allison Carr Waechter. Today it turns one month old and I’m still slowly making my way through. Mostly because I don’t want it to be over. Lolsob. If you haven’t read this trilogy yet, please do so. It’s one of my favorites.
I’m also slowly making my way through Shades of Magic trilogy and the Heroes of Olympus series. I also have a few re-reads I want to do in order to read new releases.
Currently Writing
I am rotating through three different WIPs right now. With a fourth that really wants to be in rotation but we’ll see if that works. I keep getting distracted by the details in terms of word count or chapter count. Or things like is this better as a short story? Or a novella? Or a series? I honestly have no idea how to sort that and every time I think I have an idea, I second guess myself.
My writing routine/schedule is really not what I want it to be right now, but I am just trying to do what I can for now. And right now, it’s a weekly session with one my friends and notes jotted down throughout the day. Sometimes I can get an hour or so in the morning before I am summoned by the Kiddo.
It’s not my ideal situation right now, but I am going to keep making it work.
Last thing I want to share here, I am working on my website and may move my Substack letters back to a different kind of newsletter. I’m not 100% sure yet, as the idea of moving back to more complicated email services doesn’t sound appealing at the moment.
But Spring is always good for change, so we shall see.
Until next time
