I really wanted to make this first letter of In A Brown Study a bit poetic about how this has been a month long process, how this will evolve and change, how this will be a space of creativity and connecting. But it will not be that, because my words are not poetic right now. They are a bit chaos yet to the point.
Because somehow it completely escaped my planning process that I committed to launch this Substack on the New Moon Solar Eclipse when everything feels wibbly wobbly timey wimey. But I’m committed to it. I’m here, you’re here. It’s happening.
It’s happening.
The Details
Weekly letters on Saturdays - subject to change at any time because I’m indecisive and like to experiment
No paywall - will be free, always
Comments are my favorite - but zero pressure to leave them
The Vibes
Chaotic Writer - no plans, no outlines, just coffee and writing word after word
Tired Queer Millennial - once again, tired. queer. millennial.
Neurodivergent Witch - cycles within cycles, seasons within seasons - basically there is a pattern/structure until there isn’t until there is again
The Flourishes
Hint of tarot - revamping my writing practice using tarot, but this is not about the tarot, hope that makes sense
Interest(s) of the week - these usually directly influence how and what I write
WIP of the week - snippets, vibe checks, character mood boards, etc.
Why on Substack?
I want to get beyond the character restricted comment sections of Instagram, beyond the lost tweets of Twitter, beyond the algorithmic newsfeed of Facebook. If you are reading this, I imagine you do too. I love how Substack is set up for us to connect. No ads, just the content you sign up for. (Also, if you are an Apple user, the Substack app is fucking amazing.)
Now that we have all of the details out of the way, I am thrilled to start sharing more about my current dark academia WIP (Work In Progress) in the next letter.
Until next time, dear hearts.
