Thinking about queerness and nature. How many of us are finding or returning to our love of nature. Finding our queer ancestors in the plants and animals and the water and the sky and seeing ourselves reflected in the literal world.
Thinking about queerness and second puberty (and third and fourth, maybe). The way hormone changes literally produce another kind of puberty. And having to resettle in our bodies. But even sans hormones, allowing ourselves to express ourselves and experimenting with clothes and hair style and room decor and aesthetics, etc.
Thinking about queerness and reintroducing things to our inner child. Getting to try foods or drinks we associated with “gender”, getting to watch shows that were associated with “gender”, playing with toys that were associated with “gender”, etc.
Thinking about queerness and education. Seeking books, documentaries, journals, etc. about our queer ancestors and feeling hurt and angry for how long we were hidden or erased from mainstream “approved” education and history books.
Thinking about queerness everywhere because we can’t just hang up our queerness at the door when we enter new spaces.
Reintroducing things to your inner child... YESSS! And ohh, the things you write about second etc. puberty... Oof. Thank you for putting it into words.
